wear your colors proudly

Congratulations, you made it to the last blog on the SNR Card Universe Blog Hop! If you came from Karolyn's blog, you're on the right track. If you didn't you may want to hop to SNR Card Universe, and start at the beginning. The last place to hop is back to SNR.

Since you made it all the way to the end I wanted to offer something different. I have lots of crafty interests and weird collections here that seem to make their way into my creative realm. So, for the 4th, I got out the button jars. Oh, yes I have more than one. I'm addicted to old buttons. I made a new button charm bracelet to share with you today. If you look closely, you'll see that there are a few non-buttons in the mix. I included an old bingo marker, a couple of silver charms, and a fragment. I had to drill a hole in the bingo marker and I finally got out my Fiskars hand drill for the job. Oh my goodness, why did I wait to use this handy little tool. It worked beautifully and cut so smoothly. I didn't even have to sand away any rough edges. The word charm says courage on one side and hope on the other. I salvaged it from a piece of jewelry that I took apart to use in new pieces. There's something lyrical about those words and how they came to be remade into this piece. I'll be wearing it to the fireworks display over the lake tonight.

Leave a comment here to be entered in a random drawing for a one month subscription to Scrapbook News and Review. I'd love to hear about your collections, especially if you have an affinity for buttons.

If you have more time, there's a bigger prize you can play for. All participating SNR staff members have part of a phrase posted on their blog today. Find each staffer’s blog along the hop, jot down their portion of the phrase, unscramble the wording, then send an email to games@scrapbooknewsandreview.com with the full phrase. My word is ASK. One hopper will win a full one year subscription to Scrapbook News and Review. You have until monday night to get your answer emailed. I hope you had fun on the hop and found lots of inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Enjoy the BBQ and fireworks wherever you are. The last place to hop is back to SNR.

OMG Tami, Your bracelet rocks! I love it! I need to make me one! I love all little trinkets but old game pieces are my favorite thing to collect besides buttons!

I collect button - pins. The kind with slogans, sayings. I have them on a wood board covered in cloth. It is a collage of buttons.

Hey Tammi! I was reading your post and actually my blog is right in the middle so there's lots of blogs in between us...he he...you should be after Karolyn's blog (http://www.karolyns-paperkraft.blogspot.com/
), but being last that probably doesn't matter now that I'm thinking about it...never mind! I love that bracelet!

Wow, Tami!! You followed me SPECTACULARLY!! I am in love with this project. I, too, love buttons - my grandmother used to have a Button Box that my sisters and I would play with for HOURS. Too bad I have no idea where they are now. I used to collect Beanie Babies, but that past time is long gone now. Great project, Tami!! Happy 4th!

What a clever bracelet! I've seen discussion about button bracelets but this is the first on I've seen. Nice job. My collection has nothing to do with crafting. I've collected bells for about 30 years. I know I have over 100 now.

Oh that bracelet is right up my alley. I have 10 button jars sorted by color so I didn't blink when you said more than one.

Last week at LSS I spent almost 40 minutes sifting thru their buttons to find just the ones I liked. They charge $2.50 to fill up a little hickory farms jelly jar (like I needed more buttons)

I also collect all kinds of vintage "junk" as my hubby calls it

What a wonderful project...I too collect buttons and as we went through the things at my MIL's house after her death..I only requested her button jars.I carried them home in a carton on the airplane...you should have heard me trying to explain that to the airport security as we were going through the scanner machine!

I just love your bracelet with all the buttons and memorbilia on it...What a great idea......
This has been one fantastic blog hop and I have enjoyed every blog with the exception of the ones that I couldn't get to and there were a couple who did not update their blog post or it did not work for them. But I could not believe all the cards and differnet techniques, some very talented card makers out there.

Your bracelet is beautiful.I am a collector of old buttons as well - my favorite thing to find at garage sales is the old buttons and trims. I also have a favorite thrift store that has a wall of old trims they sell in a variety bag for 40 cents. You never know what you'll get and most of the time it is wonderful!
